In 2020, the COVID-19 virus struck almost every corner of every country in the world. In Libya, the pandemic added a new layer of crisis to a country already buckling under the stress of long-term conflict. BCI is part of an international consortium working with civil society partners to increase their capacity to engage, identify priorities and propose and implement workable solutions to meet the needs of women and girls and respond more effectively to the impact of the ongoing COVID-19 crisis and the recent surge in the conflict in Libya. Engaging women in local development and decision-making processes reinforces and cements community partnerships and ensures the implementation of decisions reflects the priorities of women and girls.

At the end of 2020, 11 CSOs from east to west and north to south interviewed stakeholders in their communities to assess the impact of COVID-19 on women and girls. This report summarises the most common top-line findings from the 11 organisations.
