Tales from Ta'Xbiex

Dear ,

The first six months have been busy for BCI.  Our family is growing with thriving partnerships, an expanded client-base, new staff, dedicated consultants and even a baby
– congratulations, Mo & Gaby!

Since January, the team has travelled over 90,000 kilometres implementing client projects and the rest of the year is shaping up to be even busier with new projects coming online, including a significant exploration on the issue of freedom of expression.

On July 1, BCI turns 5 years old and we are looking forward to many more years of successful growth and development.

It's our birthday!

The Foundation for Global Human Dignity

But we’re not all about business growth and, as former international NGO workers, we want to continue supporting worthy projects and contribute to tackling the issues that keep us all awake at night.  To that end, BCI recently founded a not-for-profit organisation to support marginalised communities and focus on issues related to human and democratic rights.  The Foundation for Global Human Dignity is still a work in progress, so we’ll keep you updated as it, too, grows.

BCI releases new toolkit

As part of our ongoing support to the Ante Raeda programme (implemented by the Institute for War and Peace Reporting and funded by the Government of the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland), we created a basic toolkit to guide civil society organisations in their day-to-day management and development.  The toolkit is the result of a series of training and mentoring sessions BCI conducted for the programme in 2018 and 2019.  While the toolkit complements training videos developed for the Ante Raeda programme, it can guide any nascent civil society or community-based organisation on fundamental organisational and programme conditions. The toolkit, available in English and Arabic is available here.

BCI's Blog

We continue to invite our friends and partners to contribute thoughts and opinions on our website.  In recent weeks, Philip Eliason updated us on Australia’s elections, BCI’s Eszter Kósa shared a personal perspective to mark World Refugee Day and Sonja Lokar chastised Slovenia’s Constitutional Court and politicians for missing an opportunity to fix gender discrimination in political parties.

As part of our partnership in the EU-based consortium for the European Commission's Framework Contracts, we are always looking for experts and consultants to nominate for short-term projects under the EC's 'Lot 3: Human Rights, Democracy and Peace.'  If you, or someone you know, is a consultant who wants to be added to our roster of experts, register on our website to upload your CV.
