About the firm

BCI is a small, and relatively young, international development company headquartered in Malta.  Our area of focus is primarily Democracy and Governance; with deep experience in political activism, party organisation, legislative strengthening, gender empowerment, civil society capacity, strategic communications, and elections.  We implement programs in a number of countries, conduct trainings, assess and evaluate programs, and support marginalised communities.

Our small team is nimble, professional, and always effective.  We have global expertise and experience in North America, the Middle East and North Africa, and the Balkans.  Additionally, we have been fortunate to expand our programming into South East Asia over the past few years.  While we have regional strength, we are a global company and are expanding with new partnerships in the EU Framework world, and with a network of individual experts and organisations.

An Administrative Assistant in Malta is required on a full-time basis. 

Responsibilities:

  • Organise and manage office premises
  • Organise and manage team calendar, travel and events
  • Assist and support company Directors in daily operational activities
  • Maintain company databases and electronic files.
  • Create purchase/travel/invoice requests
  • Prepare project budgets, monthly cash and spending reports
  • Manage office petty cash
  • Assist with quarterly VAT report
  • Other duties as required


Essential Qualifications and Experience:

  • A minimum of 3 years relevant work experience as an administrative/office assistant, preferably with an international organization or NGO
  • Fluency in English, with good communications skills
  • Experience with basic accounting and or bookkeeping software
  • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office, email, Google Drive, and accounting software such as Quick Books or Quicken.

  • EU Citizen or able to work in EU without sponsorship
  • Is Malta-based, or prepared to relocate at own expense
  • Willing to travel to provide short-term support to project teams
  • Fluency in additional languages, particularly French and/or Arabic is an advantage.
